This is a new site / business we’ve just started setting up this month. What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity? We want to get a recognizable logo up that we can use to brand any subsequent websites we create that will focus on a similar audience. Quite simple we’d like it to look “good”. I know that’s a bit broad, but since most of our competitor’s logos and sites have been created by people with very little design knowledge we definitely want to focus on having the best looking site and the most professional image. What are your long term goals? Once we’ve completed this site and are starting to make a profit we’re going to be moving on to other game-related endeavors using the “raw” brand, such as “Raw-Blogs” (a video game blogging site). When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer? Definitely want to get this up in 3 weeks, so November 22nd. Audience Profile: Please describe your existing audience Right now our existing audience is mostly made up of MMO (massively multiplayer online) video game players (from as young as they can get their hands on a credit card or a paypal account, to Dads and Mums), specifically people in the Oceanic region (as Oceanic players are most in need of latency reducing programs due to how far their connections have to traverse to get to most overseas game servers). Who would you like to add to your audience? We would definitely like to get more American and European gamers using our product, however I’m not sure that’s something that can be accomplished with a logo. Mainly we just want to expand our business by creating an SSH tunneling service that doesn’t look like it’s run by 1 guy in a basement. Perception/Tone/Guidelines: What type of logo would you like? We simply want something that looks professional, however not pretentious (if that makes sense). We’re a company for gamers, by gamers, but we’re also serious about our site. We also need the logo to be updateable for when we use the same logo by change the “Ping” into “Blogs”, “Games”, “Forums” or whatever other sites we decide to create. Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?) None specifically, however we have already designed most of our website so preferably it would be colors that would fit at all onto our site. Not especially. Since we’re going to be covering a wide range of services in the future, we’d like something non-descript (although all of our sites will be MMO / gaming related). Communication Strategy: What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business? We want our logo to show that we take pride in our business, unlike our competitors. Our competitor’s websites are thrown together as an afterthought of their service; however we want to present an image that shows that we care about looks. Having an impressive logo and site should hopefully make people feel more comfortable about subscribing to our service as we would seem more legitimate and lasting. What is your tagline or slogan? “The ultimate in gaming services”, however we don’t want it on the logo. What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience? Like I said earlier, it’s a service made for gamers, by gamers, however when it comes to business we’re serious. We’re professional and we’re run by more than 1 person in a basement. Where will your new logo be used? On our website, on our online advertisements, and on subsequent websites. Competitive Positioning: Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos? Every one of our competitors has an awful site / logo except Smooth Ping. Their logo is really simple but it’s not TOO bad with their site, but it is still really boring. Not much to be honest. Mainly just our image and our advertising.
