Record your voice - Carpool Lane
Voice Over actors needed for two parts - Age 7, African American, best friends. Educated, upper class, competitive with each other. CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS: FOR CASSIUS AND COLTRANE Please only audition if you can sound like a 7-10 year old boy - the right attitude is imperative. Best friends, riding in a car, riffing off of each other. If you're a male, young adult I'll consider pitching your voice if you have the right attitude of a cool 7 year old. Cassius a.k.a. Cass (7) | Small, ambitious, outgoing know?it all 7 years?old, his ambitions far outweigh his years. Tranes ace. Second grader at Winthorpe Oliver Day School a private school that focuses on leadership and high achievement. Wants to retire at 18. And own the Lakers. Small in stature with a bit of a Napoleon complex, he sometimes still has to use a booster seat, which his brother and Trane use as ammunition to bag on him. (ex: You better take that booster seat to Six Flags or else you wont be able to go on all the rides. Or, You must be this tall to participate in this conversation.) His small size hasnt kept him from succeeding. Hes one of the most popular kids in his class and runs a very successful Blow? Pop selling operation. Prone to exaggeration and one?upsmanship; claims that hes the best Madden player in the city but he couldnt attend the big tournament because he didnt have a ride. Blames Caleeb. Always trying to out?do his best friend, Trane. (ex: My b?day party is gonna be way better than yours, were giving away money at the door.) Well versed in kid?friendly current events: sports, videogames and cartoons. Thinks those things are the most important things in the world as his knowledge of them has gotten him far and kept him at the center of attention in school. For Cass, school is way less about learning and way more about socializing and upping his profile. He has a knack for learning but would rather focus his energies on things that can help his immediate life. So he rarely sees the point in whatever Caleeb is talking about. Not a great athlete, his skill set and personality are better suited for the front office. In fact, he once tried to trade Trane to another team in their little league. His Nickname: His version: Everybody calls him Cash because hes big money! The Real: Everyone is actually saying Cass, not Cash (Cassius is just toooo long!) Coltrane a.k.a Trane (7) |Nave, cautious, music?loving master of trivia and wizard of words 7 years?old, Casss best friend. Theyve always been in the same classes and on the same sports teams, so wherever Cass is, Trane is usually somewhere close by. Casss classmate at Winthorpe Oliver Day School Not as outgoing as Cass and more innocent often to the point of being nave, he is content to hang back while Cass takes center?stage. His spirit of adventure comes from his (relative) knowledge of other cultures. He also likes videogames and sports, but his true love is music (his father played jazz records from the time Trane was in the womb. Hes usually seen wearing headphones or with his ipod close by. While he has an appreciation for all music, favorite is hip hop. Has a broad knowledge base of new school hip?hop and pop, but thinks that music history doesnt go back any farther than Kanye West (a sore spot for Caleeb) He sometimes speaks very lyrically, and is prone to spitting rhymes at the drop of a dime Takes drum lessons and practices in the car as hes listening to music (drives Caleeb crazy!) A nomadic kid (as a professor, his father has moved from school to school looking for the best fit), he has a very open mind and is accepting of most things and most peoples viewpoints. (Partly why he excels in the classroom is because hes able to repeat facts back to the teachers on his tests. Something that Caleeb wants to change.) Trane has an affinity for Geography and, on the surface, is a geography wiz. While he can locate states, countries and geographical features on a map, his facts about them are a little twisted (the inhabitants of ancient Egypt were called Mummies; the sun never sets in China because China is in the east and the sun sets in the west). Caleeb is always trying to get Trane to get his dad to appear on his cable access show. Its important to Tranes parents that he learn about all cultures, so his mother often packs him traditional ethnic lunches, including kidney stew, and other fragrant dishes such as kimchi natto and mee krob. (Yo, Trane, whats that smell coming from your backpack?
