The four primary functions of a label are Talent scouting, financing, distribution, and Marketing. We believe this site will eventually do that and more. Odyssey is dedicated to musicians who want the opportunity to create, perform, promote, and distribute their music. The web site www.MyOdyssey.net is the source for musicians, allowing them the ability to upload and sell their music by creating an Odyssey account at no upfront cost to musicians. Each artist will also be evaluated by consumers voting on the artist they like best. Artist with a combination of the most votes and/or sales will rise to the top of the list, and will be the core business for Odyssey Records and Entertainment Family, Friends and Fans will make up the buying group and voter to establish best in class, and overall best. This group will have the opportunity to purchase songs, and/or albums from selected musicians, and book bands for parties, bars (clubs), and events. Purchasing downloads $.99 per each song, and booking prices to be determined with a commission split of %30 to be paid to Odyssey. The Family, Friends, and fans group will also have space to blog, write reviews, or give feedback on the bands. This group will act much like an A&R department at a traditional Record label Artist will upload music in one of the following categories, Pop, Rock, Metal, Bluegrass, Country, Hip Hop, Christian/Gospel, R&B, and Blues.
