This is a quick project for a Linux (Ubuntu) sysadmin, to quickly earn some good points on RaC and a good recommendation. I am about to launch my first small/test web site, using a remote hosting service provider. Before I do that, I want to replicate the remote server environment, on my local machine. The remote server will be running Ubuntu 8.04 Server LTS, and my local machine is running Ubuntu Karmic (9.10) I want to set up a chroot jail on my local machine, so that I can install the Ubuntu server software on my local machine. The idea being that, I can use that installation as my staging server and apply any changes locally, before deploying to the remote production server. So I need a Linux (Ubuntu) system administrator to provide instructions (as well as a hands on experience if I do get stuck) to help me to: 1. install Ubuntu 8.04 LTS in a chroot jail on my local Ubuntu Karmic machine 2. Install the required software in the server 3. Write a few simple sample bash scripts (see attached file for further details) 4. Provide a backup plan for backing up a remote server (hopefully, I should be able to implement the backup procedure on my local chroot'ed server installation - so I can make sure that the backup procedure works). You will be required to provide a document that explains the steps required, so that I can use that as a reference document to recreate a chroot'ed install of a Ununtu 8.04 LTS on a Ubuntu desktop machine (i.e. I will use the document you provide as a reference manual). In order to make it easier for me to select a bidder, Please reply explaining how you would implement requirement 7, which concerns backups - it is the one requirement that does require some expertise, and it will easily help me to separate the experienced bidders from the time wasters.
