Business Name Tobacco Road Marathon What do you do? We are a full marathon (26.2miles) and half marathon (13.1) mile running event/race in Cary, NC. Cary is a suburb of the Greater Raleigh area. We had a hugely successful first year race that sold out months before the event and are looking to create a long term brand/logo for our race. What is the exact name you would like in your logo? TRM What is your industry? Running, fitness, health, endurance events Describe the target audience for your logo even split of men and women; majority are between 30-50, runners come from mostly North Carolina/South Carolina/Virginia; average income level is $75,000, professionals, goal oriented What are the top 3 things you would like to communicate through your logo? 1) forward thinking and timeless - not old fashioned. While our target market is 30-50 year olds marathons attract participants from their 20's-60's/70's. We want to appeal to the generations. 2) serene and calm - the majority of the race is run along a rail road track that is now a running trail 3) fast - the race course is mostly flat and known for having relatively fast marathon times What logo styles do you like (text only, image only, text and image, etc.)? Image of a rail road track, readable font, minimal shading and gradient as that seems to be rather current and has the potential to be out of style; text should include "TRM" in either all caps or all lower case but not mixed case as this stands for "Tobacco Road Marathon". What colors do you want to see in your logo? no existing color palette What colors do you NOT want to see in your logo? forest green & gold/yellow should be excluded as there is another marathon locally that uses that color coloring should not be too 'girly' (i.e. pink, purple, pastel) Where will your logo be used (print, website, etc.)? website, print, finisher medals, promotional items (cups, hats, magnets, stickers) and possibly the race t-shirt. We need a logo in color and also a single color version of the logo. Do you have other info or links you want to share? www.tobaccoroadmarathon.com is our current site. We find the current color palette to be flat, too masculine and old feeling. The logo doesn't bring out anything special about the race being on the rail road track. We also can not include any images of a tobacco leaf or anything that has to do with smoking/cigarettes/tobacco plant. The focus is on the rail road - not the crop. Update 4-Aug-10, 3:03p.m. GMT I may not have communicated it effective - the trail/rail road theme must be present in the logo. Either a train track, or a steam engine/train car needs to be included.
