I will start this off by stating that I know very little about the design and development of databases. If I knew how to do it, I wouldn't be posting this job. I have an existing database. It was done over 6 years ago and I have recently been trying to update it, only to be told that it is too old and that it needs to be redone. The original coder when missing in a hurricane and I have not been able to find her again. (I am very sad about this.) Here is one page of information that comes out of the database: http://proofpositive.com/contests/photocontests.php The database was created as a series of tables ... photo, writing, cooking ect. I have been told it should be done as ONE big table that spits out information as necessary. 1. I need the database to be designed so that: it works flawlessly it spits out the information to the same php pages (to retain hard fought for google rankings) there are matching htm pages that contain static information ... I would like this information to be included in the database and return results similar to what exists: http://proofpositive.com/contests/photocontests.htm I need a visitor panel where contest owners can add their contests. (see the one that exists). + I want an automatic email to go out when the contest owner enters their contest. + I want a script that adds the contest owner's name and email address to an email service provides (ie aweber). I need an "office" where my staff can edit, accept, delete and organize the contests. I need security Please include the words "peace and goodwill" at the very beginning of your application. This is so that I know you are actually reading this and not giving me some kind of half-baked canned reply. It would be nice for the contests to be searchable in some elegant way. The original programmer tried to make this searchable, but it did not work very well so I disabled it. I want someone who can think this through, come up with a good plan and implement it. I want someone who knows databases and what CAN be done ... and who is capable of suggesting things to me that I do not even know about, or know to ask about. I don't want someone who expects ME to be able to tell them how to do this. Please tell me your experience and why I would want to hire you. Please tell me about other databases you have done ... don't just send me a pile of links to look at, because I won't know what I am supposed to see. Tell me what makes the database a good one. Also ... tell me if I am not asking the right questions, and what questions I SHOULD be asking. Thanks for your time. It is acknowledged and appreciated. MER PS ... even though I am posting this as hourly, I must have an estimated number of hours for completion and an estimated time frame (ie 1 week, 10 months?). PPSS.
