We are looking to fill our art-design position. This position will require one to have a vast knowledge in both web and general art design. Some of the projects will include: re-design of website, on going creation of design for professional documents (i.e. promotional, contracts, etc), logo creation, further branding assistance etc. This is a long term position as long as the necessary skills and abilities are identified. Specific to web design the responsibilities will include: Create design prototypes, including graphic design, site navigation, and layout of content, for the company web site. Ensure that the layout of the content is accessible and logical; recommend improvements if necessary. Create visual concepts that match the content and the image wanted but that fit in the companies global image; ensure that site is easy to navigate. Build website using technologies that conform to international standards and make sure that it is universally accessible. Perform maintenance and updates to existing website. Requirements Minimum of 4 years Experience in web design. Experience working in a communications/ public relations environment. Advanced knowledge of XHTML, CSS, and of digital imaging and illustration with Adobe Photoshop, QuarkXPress and Illustrator with formal training an asset. Knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, PHP and dynamic HTML; experience with Macromedia Flash. Knowledge and demonstrated experience with cross-browser and cross-platform issues (IE, Firefox, Safari, Chrome etc.) Extensive experience working on a Mac and PC platform. Very good spoken and written English (level 5) in order to design prototypes and train staff. Attention to detail, customer-service orientation, and creativity in problem-solving. Ability to work in a team and to communicate in a clear way to provide training to staff. Formal training in desktop publishing applications, and photography definite assets. Superior knowledge of current web-design trends and techniques, a strong online portfolio displaying user-centered design, and experience with web database solutions definite assets.
