Newberry Enhanced Geothermal Animation
The opening animation will begin with a long shot from space of the earth in a slow turn. Voice over (VO) will describe the heat that exists below the earth’s surface, coupled with an animation that shows the heat below the surface. As the continental US comes into view, we’ll zoom to the North Western US region revealing earth’s geothermal energy below this area. Demonstration site will come into view with a VO describing how geothermal heat accumulates, and is readily available. We’ll show how Enhanced Geothermal differs from naturally occurring Hydrothermal systems and describe with animations and VO how existing geothermal sites can be leveraged for Enhanced Geothermal creation. All animation and VO will showcase renewable energy, the new energy economy, local job creation with county and state revenue generation and refined to describe the exact nature of the process favorable to our mission. Lastly, we’ll depict how new green power will flow to the power lines and spread across the country turning the US green. How natural occurring Hydrothermal systems and Enhanced Geothermal systems differ Animations and VO will address any perceived downsides of the geothermal process; the use of water and seismology and a description of how Enhanced Geothermal differs from naturally occurring Hydrothermal systems. We’ll depict how the current Newberry Volcano EGS Demonstration operation works. Show the process of the injection well and the process of turning the water to steam to create energy. A cutaway of the Newberry field will show how we’ll take advantage of existing wells and the creation and stimulation of reservoirs for geothermal creation. A VO will explain the microseismicity monitoring process, with animations, that allows for real time data monitoring and control of seismic activity. The set up for the Microseismic Array will follow with a plot of microearthquake distribution in the Newberry project. A 2D or 3D map of the field with graphs of microearthquake data used to map fractures and VO will detail the advantages of this configuration with insets of charts and graphs as needed. Developing EGS at the Newberry Project The VO will briefly describe how we can leverage the existing sites with EGS. Then explain, in conjunction with animation, the three phases of the demonstration project. In Phase 1, we’ll show the study of gathered data and baseline measurements that demonstrate EGS is safe and environmentally secure. Phase 2 will show the testing and stimulation process of the existing injection well into the felsite (granite). Next we’ll show the mapping of the fractures using the Microseismic Array (MSA) and AltaStim. This process will repeat itself at three intervals in three zones. Each time we’ll show the spread of the fractures at each interval after stimulation, the map using MSA and AltaStim and the injection of diverter chemicals. At the end we’ll show a microearthquake map in an inset with location, size and direction of displaced rock. We’ll describe how sophisticated, proprietary software allows us to gain control of the process. Lastly, we animate the drilling of a production well into the fracture network mapped by AltaStim. Zoom out to water injection and circulation and explain in VO the advantages and unused potential of these existing sites using EGS. The benefits of EGS to Hydrothermal, how it can be done anywhere and is safe and environmentally sound. We will explain how we are considerate of public opinion/concerns and involved in the creation of a public forum to address every issue. Phase 3 will be the creation of a conceptual model, how it can work and the spread of green power that provides the US economic independence, security and makes good environmental sense.
