Record your voice - Charles Herrold, early radio re-enactment
PERIOD: 1916 DIRECTION: The voice should be commanding, but also slightly causal (radio was a much more casual affair back then). Feel free to add a cough, deep breath or clear your throat as you speak. Many portions are taken from early newspaper stories and your character alternates between reading them and commenting on them. BACKGROUND: This is a re-enactment of an early radio broadcast (before there were station IDs and call letters). You are playing Charles Herrold, 'the father of radio broadcasting'. It is set in 1916 just six years after the first regular radio broadcast began in San Jose, California. USE: This is part of project for the 01 Art and Technology Biennial in San Jose. The project commemorates Charles Herrold and his pioneering radio broadcasts. Final Script: Approx. 1600 words Note from Voices.com: It is recommended that you protect all your audition work by watermarking the submission or only recording a portion of the script provided by the client. This will render your audition file useless for anything other than reviewing your voice. Not sure what watermarking is? Please visit our FAQ section for more information.
