Calling all socially-minded Portuguese and English speakers! The Global Lives Project is looking for Portuguese-speaking transcribers and Portuguese/English speaking translators for a film. The film is part of the Global Lives Project (http://globallives.org/), a non profit collaboration of volunteer filmmakers, photographers, architects, artists, programmers, designers, and everyday people from across the world. To date there have been 10 GLP shoots - Kazakhstan, USA, Brazil, Malawi, Japan, China, Indonesia, India, Serbia and Lebanon. The purpose of the films is to offer people the chance to jump out of their own realities and into ones they might never have experienced otherwise. The Brazil Project specifically focuses on Israel Feliciano, a 23 year old musician in São Paulo, Brazil. More information on the subject can be found at http://globallives.org/wiki/219/. 24 hours in his life and a life story interview will be shared with people all around the world through a unique video installation and a dynamic online video library. The footage was just showcased for 4 months at a very well-regarded gallery space called Yuerba Buena Center (http://www.ybca.org/) in San Francisco and attracted nearly 50,000 people. It is now being shown in Europe, in Paris, Budapest, Belgrade, London and more. I just need to clarify that Global Lives is volunteer work and therefore is not paid or potential work, although anyone who helps with a 15-minute segment or more will have their name in the credits of the GLP DVD and on the GLP website. All work is done online and no special programs are needed- just a computer and the internet. We hope that one segment can be finished in 2 weeks.
