Magento project - New e-commerce udate

Company has large database in access wants converted to mysql and upload to new magneto site. Template to be added later. Additional Info (Added 6/9/10 at 18:34 (EST))... DB has about 48k+ products, however some categories will not be needed. there are a handful of top level categories with each on having a handful of second and third levels. the old website has been down for a little while, the previous programmer got as far as installing an empty magneto site, before not being able to finish.
