audio transmission over a light beam
An electronic system is to be designed; constructed and evaluated that will modulate a light beam to enable wire-free transmission of an audio signal over a minimum distance of 4 metres. the light source will most likely be a low power (1mW) laser operating in the invisible (red) region of the electromagnetic spectrum; however, alternative source (e.g high power IR LEDs) can be used. it is recommended that a 40KHz carrier signal will be AM modulated by multiplication with the output of a suitable audio signal source (e.g MP3 player), and interfaced properly to the optical transmitter. signal recovery is expected to be achieved by processing the photo-detected signal using a current-mode phase sensitive detector, operating synchronously with the carrier frequency, to minimise interference from the ambient light , and improve sensitivity at low light intensity levels. I'll appreciate assistance on this project. Keywords: audio
