UK Legal Research & Writing for the Web
Job Description Hello 1. We are looking for legal researchers and writers to help us with our project in the United Kingdom. 2. “We” are founders of Help4lips, a Community Interest Company (CIC) in the United Kingdom. ( www.help4lips.co.uk ). This CIC has been set up to help litigants in person (LiPs). LiPs are people that use the Law without employing legal professionals such as solicitors or lawyers to maintain and prosecute (or defend) their case here in the UK. 3. An important part of the help we are providing to each LiP is to direct them to highly specific information that will assist them in comprehending the Law and its processes. We want LiPs to be able to find this information as it becomes relevant to them. We aim to be a sort of “google” for LiPs by the end of this year. 4. The core of this information will be accessed through our Matrix of 300 knowledge nuggets. Our matrix context and click-through approach can be learned by watching a rough five-minute video at www.help4lips.co.uk/need2know . You can also try our drafted approach out, as it is on-line at www.help4lips.co.uk/infobase 5. Using our site, we expect LiPs to easily establish in a few clicks in which broad context their case is in and what broad step they are on in resolving their dispute. Each combination of dispute context and resolution step requires a LiP to have specific knowledge of the law and of the civil procedure rules, as they relate to their case. 6. We will be helping each LiP access some of the information required at that whatever stage of the litigation process they are in. Based on this information each LiP can then decide what action they should take next. 7. This next action may be for them to follow a link to relevant information that is already on line (eg a specific web page on www.yougov.co.uk ) or an advertorial by a specialist supplier of a relevant service or other relevant information. 8. Our immediate requirement is for someone (perhaps you) to find and fill in links to the information most relevant for a LiP to know about within each step of the litigation process given context that their dispute is in. 9. You will see from the video referenced above that we are currently thinking of this opportunity as one encompassing the filling of 300 knowledge gaps. We want these gaps to be filled in the first instance with relevant links to relevant information. Later, we will want these collections of links to be enhanced with well-written articles in simple English. Please consider the above and come back to me ASAP if you wish to be involved. Please note that while I have ticked the "hourly rate" option for this job, we will consider a fixed price for a fixed piece of work (for example, if you have expertise in a certain subset of the project). Kind Regards Brad Meyer Keywords: Website Content, legal, writing, research, english
