Operation Database Specialist Oracle and MS SQL -Switzerland Permanent full time position - only those European citizens can apply, who are citizens of the Schengen-area sector: telecommunication Your job As a Specialist (Database Operation) within the Technology unit of the telecom company, you will be mainly responsible for the smooth operation of our 300+ Oracle, Microsoft SQL and few MySQL databases. In the team you will perform the following tasks: Handling of daily operational tasks (monitoring, resolving incidents, troubleshooting database related problems, etc.) Installation, configuration, upgrade, reorganization and maintenance of Oracle 10g/11g, SQL Server 2005 / 2008, MySQL 5 databases Data Storage Management Working in accordance with the existing Sunrise standards and help to improve them Implementation and verification or execution of backups and restores, high availability and disaster recovery procedures Proactively resolving security issues Documentation of all database related changes and enhancements Database optimizations (performance tuning, SQL tuning, instance tuning, space management, etc.) to increase the performance, quality, stability and availability of our databases Continuously updating the personal skills / know-how on database related products and technologies Member of the database on-call organization Your competencies / Requirements If you meet the following expectations, we look forward to receiving your complete application documents: Higher technical education (University, FH or similar) At least 5+ years practical work experience as a Microsoft SQL & Oracle Database Administrator; experience with MySQL databases is desired Good database administration skills in areas / technologies like: SQL Server 2005/2008 (also in clustered environments), Backup / Recovery procedures, T-SQL knowledge, Oracle Automated Storage Management (ASM), Oracle Internet Directory (OID), Oracle Enterprise Manager, Oracle Data Guard and Real Application Cluster (RAC) Windows, UNIX and Linux knowledge English is mandatory, German a plus We offer interesting, challenging and varied work in a professional and dynamic environment.
