Design a logo - Three Lakes Dental
What text should be included in the main part of the logo? Three Lakes Dental What type of product or service do you offer? General Dentistry - more specifically, family and cosmetic dentistry. How long have you been in business? This will be a start-up business, built from the ground up. What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity? We hope to create a brand that people will identify with quality care and an experience that is vastly different from what they've come to expect in the past. We want to create this impression in peoples' minds from Day 1. What are your long term goals? To establish a successful dental practice that goes above and beyond our patients' expectations. When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer? The tentative deadline is February 18th. Audience Profile: Please describe your existing audience. As this is a practice start-up we really don't have an "existing" audience. However, the town we are building in is a small southern town of approximately 14,000 people. It is what's known as a "mill-town," with most of the people here accustomed to working hard and being treated with dignity and respect. Who would you like to add to your audience? I don't want to exclude anyone from our practice; however, the vast majority of healthcare decisions are made by women. Typically a mother will come in for herself or her child and based on the way they're treated refer (or not) the rest of her family. In the business we call this woman "PPO mom." PPO mom has a hard-working husband, probably works herself, has excellent insurance, and values one thing above all else: her family. Although we don't want to exclude anyone from our practice, we also realize that PPO mom will be directly or indirectly responsible for the vast majority of our patient flow. Perception/Tone/Guidelines: What type of logo would you like? We're looking for a logo that incorporates three elements: an image, the main text (Three Lakes Dental), and the subtext (Family & Cosmetic Dentistry). We have seen several excellent-looking images that feature these three elements one on top of the other (image>main text>subtext). See below for an example. NOTE: This is just an example of the layout we're thinking about. We don't think this logo is "good" or exactly what we're after. http://www.dfwfamilydentistry.com/white-settlement/ Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?) We want soothing colors, like earth tones or blues. We're trying to create a spa-like feeling with this brand. One of the things we fight against the most in dentistry is patient phobia. People are afraid to come see us. We want to put them at ease right from the start. Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo? Water and trees come to mind as icons we might like to see in the logo (and they fit with the name and location - see below); however, we don't want to pigeon-hole anyone. We're up for just about anything that conveys the message we're trying to get across. What I will say is that we definitely don't want dental instruments or goofy tooth images incorporated into the logo. That is definitely not what we're trying to go for here. The name of the practice comes from local water bodies. The main one is Lake Martin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Martin). The Tallapoosa River (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tallapoosa_River) flows into and out of Lake Martin. As it flows south of Lake Martin there is a series of impoundments that creates "lakes" or "ponds" at various points along the river. This is where the name comes from. As far as trees, there are two ways in which they relate to the practice. First, when looking at Lake Martin and the Tallapoosa River on a map it has the appearance of a tree (http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~alelmore/tmmartin.gif). Also, the location for the practice is a scenic lot with a driveway lined on either side with large pecan trees. We wish to preserve these trees during construction and development of the lot and make them a part of our identity. Communication Strategy: What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business? We want people to know that this is something new, fresh, and tremendously different from their past experiences with the dentist. We also want to let people know that we're going to take care of them and that they have nothing to fear from us. What is your tagline or slogan? Family & Cosmetic Dentistry. What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience? We treat everyone like family. That way we never do too much or too little. Where will your new logo be used? The logo will be used on stationary, business cards, direct mail flyers, temporary and permanent signage for the practice, and embroidered on uniforms (scrubs). Competitive Positioning: Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos? Two other dentists in the area. They don't have logos. All they have is a simple sign out by the road that says "Family Dentistry." List competitive URLs if possible. Not applicable. What sets you apart from your competitors? Everything. Targeted Message: State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company: We'll take care of your family like they're our own and treat them with the dignity and respect they deserve.
