Ruby on Rails Developer
Job Description We are looking for a Ruby on Rails developer to help us port our application from Flash to Rails. We're most interested in applicants who take pride in writing clean, elegant Ruby code and are passionate about best practices, DRY and open source. We use MongoDB (http://mongodb.org) as our datastore, via the Mongoid gem (http://mongoid.org). Experience with both would be ideal and you need to understand how document stores (NOSQL) differ to traditional relational databases. Version 1 of our application is built in Flash and we are in the process of writing Version 1.5 in Rails, HTML/CSS and Javascript. So, it's important you have a good understanding of web standards, although visual design skills are not required. You will be required to write valid HTML with semantic CSS class names in accordance with the work we have already done. You will need knowledge in (or being able to learn) the following technologies: * Ruby * Ruby on Rails * Mongodb / Mongoid * HTML/CSS and Javascript * Twitter Bootstrap (http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap/) and jQuery Ideally you will be able to start immediately as we need to complete this migration.
