Oncology Clinical Research Assoc (Data Specialist) Kaleidoscope Strategic, a boutique Oncology medical information firm, is looking for a HIGHLY DETAIL-ORIENTED and personable research associate with a solid scientific background and clinical Oncology experience to compliment a seasoned medical research and writing team. Kaleidoscope Strategic collaborates with expert clinical oncologists in the research, writing and submission of peer-reviewed manuscripts for publication in top-tier Oncology journals. Our work has been featured in The Lancet Oncology, the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Cancer, and other journals. Our projects are scientifically rigorous, intellectually challenging, and deadline-driven. General Description ? A virtual research/writing team with regular, specific direction and coaching from a managing editor ? All work is project and deadline driven and requires flexibility ? Team members retain independent contractor status ? A person the skills and demeanour that compliment those of current team members could have multiple, ongoing projects with up to full-time hours ? Hourly rate ranges between CAD $18-22/hr, commensurate with experience and qualifications General role of & services required from successful candidate ? Support team by ensuring accuracy in all types of work output - literature searches, data extractions and summaries, manuscript text, and verbal/written communication ? Accurately extract and summarize data from clinical research papers and oncology conference proceedings using established internal protocols ? Proofread and edit medical research and clinical review manuscripts, proofread and edit scientific tables and graphs ? Verify data in graphs, tables and text against source to ensure accuracy Project Description ? One rigorous test assignment to assess compatibility of the contractor with the company ? Assignment requires 4-6 hours to complete ? You will be paid CAD $100 per test assignment for quality work Follow Up Project Opportunity If you enjoy and excel at the work, and you compliment our team, there is a 1-3 month full-time research project you may be contracted to work on, beginning in February 2012, with the possibility of continued work on ongoing projects. Candidate Qualifications ? Experience in or an ability to quickly master subject area of Clinical Oncology ? Ability to interpret clinical studies and medical literature ? Familiar with latest database search techniques using medical subject headings, inclusion and exclusion criteria, etc. ? Familiarity with the following databases: 1) PubMed 2) Cochrane 3) Oncology Conference Proceedings ? Be available for 9 am team meetings in Eastern Standard Time Zone Skills Required ? Exceptional analytical and organizational skills - able to manage and prioritize large volumes of information, ensure consistent workflow, etc. ? Exacting work - meticulous attention to detail , ACCURACY is paramount ? Excellent interpersonal skills - able to work well with others, be responsive, communicate proactively ? Exceptional time management ? Proven competency in Adobe Acrobat Standard/Pro (NOT simply Acrobat Reader), MS Office (especially Word/Excel) and Thomson EndNote ? Excellent verbal and written English Area of Expertise (one or more of the following) ? Oncology ? Health sciences/Biochemistry/Epidemiology ? Pharmacology & pharmaceuticals Academic/Professional Background ? Strong scientific background - PhD/Masters in biological/health sciences or related field ? Minimum of four years experience in mining & summarizing scientific data ?
