POSITION Target Language Expert, Western Punjabi LOCATION Online REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Native proficiency of Western Punjabi • Very good spoken and written English language skills • College degree or equivalent experience • Knowledge of and frequent contact with Pakistan and Pakistani culture • Ability to navigate the web, and good basic computer skills • Computer with broadband Internet connection PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Academic and/or professional background in linguistics, language teaching, translation, or a related field • Voice-acting talent/experience (e.g. theater, film, radio, public speaking, etc.) • Very good Punjabi writing skills RESPONSIBILITIES • Collect authentic spoken and written texts (“passages”) in Punjabi from the Internet, radio, TV, newspapers, etc. • Create spoken and written passages in Punjabi according to detailed specifications • Provide accurate English translations of the Punjabi passages • Provide linguistic and cultural information about the Punjabi passages COMPENSATION Payment is per accepted passage. $40 - $160 per passage, depending on passage difficulty level and domain (reading/listening).
