Design of a ultrasonic sensor circuit - Electronics
The circuit will be used for detection of small air bubbles in a plastic transparent tube with an outer diameter of 4mm. the tube is squeezed into the slot of the sensor. The sensor itself is currently available (please see the attached file for the sensor datasheet). The sensor is composed of two piezoelectric elements which are used as the transmitter and the receiver. As per datasheet, the transmitter part should be driven by a nominal 2MHz signal which is a square or a sinusoidal waveform. The type of the waveform should be determined according to the receiver performance. On the receiver side the magnitude of the output depends on the amount of air within the tube. The maximum output is observed when no air is present within the tube. Please note that the output is also a 2MHz waveform as it is sent from the transmitter. The circuit should produce the driving waveform for the transmitter; and provide a DC output according to the magnitude of the received signal from the receiver part (i.e. 500mV for all air, no liquid; 3000mV for all liquid, no air). The supply voltage of the circuit should be between 3.3V to 5.0V.
