3D printer iPad APP Must be complete by March 2nd 2012 I am currently in the process of making my own 3d printer based on this open source project. /thingomatic. We are taking the process one step further by making a metal case that is more professinal and pleasing to the eye. Along with the metal case we wish to have an iPad app that exports out a .STL file which the printer can then use to design the object. Currently to make objects the user has to use either CAD software or Solid works then export the design as a .STL file into this software connected to the printer /download. What we wish to do is build an iPad app that contains a 3d environment were users can simply drag and drop premade geometrical shapes together to make there objects. This will allow everyday users to create there own objects and have the 3d printer create them into reality. The software will either save users design on it or export them out through blue tooth to the actual 3d printer. *Note I know this is a difficult process and we have a tight deadline I would be happy with a 3D software that allows you to drag and drop shapes and just uses wifi to upload it to a server and then download it onto a computer were we can import it into the replicat software By March 2nd I wish to have an app that is running on my iPad does not have to be approved in App store and allows me to play around in a 3rd environment and drag and drop shapes then save them.
