Pipeline Engineer / Pipleline Integrity Engineer
JOB TITLE Pipeline Engineer / Pipleline Integrity Engineer (2 needed) JOB LOCATION Los Angeles, CA 90013 SUMMARY • This position functions as a member of the company’s pipeline integrity team. Position works in collaboration with other engineering integrity experts and Transmission Pipeline Integrity Team. Will assume active role in supporting the company’s efforts with compliance to the DOT regulated Pipeline Safety Improvement Act – Integrity Management Program specifically related to In-Line Inspection (pigging) inspections. • Directs and assists team members, both Company employees and outside contractors, in the completion of their work. Coordinates input from, and participation with, various departments within the Company as needed to meet project objectives. RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES • Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the integrity management program. Areas of responsibility and/or involvement include: managing data analysis of multiple ILI assessments projects, making detailed engineering calculations and evaluations on pipeline defects and conditions, evaluation and processing of inspection data, developing procedures and processes for accomplishing compliance with ILI assessment regulations, coordinating and managing pipeline field inspections, writing engineering reports, and communications. • Working within the framework of the current Integrity Management Plan, Gas Standards, and Form Instructions, work to streamline processes and procedures to meet compliance requirements, integrate/consolidate data acquisition and storage methods. • Develop working knowledge of State and Federal regulatory codes, industry standards, and company standards impacting Integrity Management. • Support the development of Company standards, specifications and procedures governing selection, design, application and operation of materials, components and systems which meet Company needs on a long term basis and with optimum economic considerations. • Data gathering and reporting efforts: identifying data required, managing data collection process, data quality control, identifying and implementing use of remote data gathering tools, developing reports, monitoring performance measures, ensuring alignment of data from various assessment tools, etc. Data collection will be from field and staff groups associated with storage, distribution, transmission, at both Los Angleles and San Diego offices. SKILLS / COMPETENCIES • Requires knowledge of engineering practices and concepts, cost analysis, and Company operating practices and policies. Must possess the ability to review problems and propose innovative solutions, which involve technical, operational, and economic issues, and may link new concepts and technologies. Experience in ILI inspections/technology, pipeline integrity management, or operations/maintenance/design or training in metallurgy desired. • Must be able to work and interact in a team environment. Skillful in personal contacts when conducting investigations to obtain information and cooperation. Must possess initiative and decision-making skills. Skills in organizing, planning, controlling and coordinating activities • Must clearly and concisely communicate technical information and concepts with various levels of management in both formal and informal settings. Must be able to prepare written communications on technical and non-technical matters for various levels of management. • Basic computer knowledge. Knowledge of spreadsheets and database analysis tools. DEGREES / CERTIFICATION / LICENSE / EXPERIENCE B.S. in Engineering preferred, other technical degrees may be considered. 5 years Experience in pipeline engineering, maintenance or repair and design. Experience in Pipeline Integrity Management or ILI technology a plus. Completion of the state Engineer-In-Training and PE or equivalent Company certificate is highly desirable.
