Responsibilities, activities and key deliverables * To design and develop Flash applications for my client's set-top box. * To provide documentation to the team on application architecture and design. * To provide release documentation for application deliveries. * Work closely with the TV product team to deliver applications to specification. * To assist in the production of detailed requirements and functional specifications for TV Flash applications * To actively ensure knowledge transfer to the team. * To provide documentation to the team on Flash coding best practice. * To provide advice on development environments enabling efficient source control and application performance * Provide in-life bug-fix support for all deployed applications. Job Specific Qualifications and Experience: * Educated to degree level or equivalent in Computer Science or related discipline * Has developed Flash applications using ActionScript 2. * To be able to document application design in UML. * To have had experience of using application design patterns such as MVC * Has experience and can demonstrate an aptitude for computer programming, preferably in a language such as Java, C or C++. * To have experience of developing for a Flashlite 3.1 environment preferably for a set-top box using Adobe StageCraft, and if not then mobile phone applications. * To have experience of working with Adobe Creative Studio including Flash Pro, Photoshop and Fireworks. * To have experience of developing server-side applications using Java, PHP, Perl, XML etc. * To understand and to have had some experience of working with UNIX, shell scripts, etc. * To have experience of source control software and practices. * An understanding of networks * Experience of working on set top box development (not essential) * Experience within the broadcast industry - DVB, STB, MPEG, streaming video. (not essential) * Experience of working on thin clients, and integrating application code into lower layer code. (not essential) * Demonstrates excellent HTML and JavaScript development (some exposure necessary) * Understanding of the following areas is preferred: data networking (including TCP/IP); SQL; Oracle; broadcast and Internet media; customer-oriented GUI design. * To understand software development life-cycle models, what is meant by them and how these might be implemented. * The ability to translate product requirements into technical design and vice versa and to be able to present recommendation.
