Hi, I have a web project that I want to do. I know very little about programming. I am good at HTML and static sites, but that is it. At a very high level, I need a few things: 1. A registration flow, so users can sign up for free. Just a very simple name, email, and password form like Twitter has. Captcha too. The data would obviously need to be stored somewhere, and I'd need to have all of the default elements of a good registration experience (forgot password, etc.) 2. After login, the user would be able to add contacts to a master contact list. They can add contacts manually, or though gmail, hotmail import. 3. After that, I want to give users the ability to create buckets, then add contacts to a bucket through a really cool drag and drop interface (like an iGoogle experience). HTML5 or AJAX perhaps?? For example, a user might have ten contacts in their list. The user could drag those contacts into different buckets, such as friends, family, or co-workers. When a contact is added to a bucket, I would want an email to be sent out. Similar to when you are tagged in a photo on Facebook. 4. After the contacts are put into buckets, they can be messaged through email or directly onto their profile. 5. Lastly, the messages that are sent would need to appear on my profile as well, if I am the one sending the message. Like a message board, with responses being captured and display as well. I am oversimplifying things considerably, but this is the gist of what I need. In addition, I would need a way to manage all of this and make minor changes. Like an admin area. Any thoughts on the best approach or technology? I really have no idea where to start. This could be a super expensive project or maybe not. I am not sure.
