We are currently casting for the various characters required for a large English teaching aid, called High Flyers. High Flyers will be our next large project to be undertaken over 2012-2013. This English teaching course is for 7-10 year old foreign students, and will be heavily based around a set of characters: Character descriptions [DOCX]: ***************************************** CHARACTERS: RODDY: Roddy is a normal 8-year-old boy who is drawn into a fantastic imaginary world. Roddy�s role in the world is to help his weird & wonderful imaginary friends work together and learn English, as English is the language of magic which the friends can use to realize their dreams in this world. Roddy is calm, friendly and patient. He is enthusiastic towards his friends and has a cheerful, optimistic outlook. TUTTI: Tutti is the creative genius in the High Flyers fantasy world. Tutti is talented both artistically and musically, and is a pitch-perfect singer who is always enthusiastic in conducting her weird and wonderful friends in a singing activity . Tutti is a creative thinker and can come up with ingenious solutions � she can also, however, be quite prone to daydreaming and not catching the details when others are talking. OG: Og is the biggest, strongest and youngest of Roddy�s imaginary friends. He�s also the least confident and is easily scared, confused or misled. Og can be quite a deep (if slow) thinker, has a very strong memory and is sometimes aware of the right thing to do, although he lacks the confidence to speak up and is swayed by the other characters ideas. Og is a very hardworking and patient learner and spends lots of time practicing new words and working on his reading. PIP: Pip is the smallest but most emotional of Roddy�s imaginary friends. Pip has a very clear idea of exactly how she would like the world to be, and is easily frustrated when the smallest detail isn�t �just so�. Pip is a very strong logical thinker and can give excellent descriptions � however she�s prone to getting too fixated on details and can lack patience and social skills. Pip is a �bunnyon� � equal parts cute bunny rabbit and fiery onion. CHUG: Chug is a robot unlike any other. Slow, steady and methodical � none of these could be said to describe Chug. He races from one well-intentioned but hair-brained idea to the next, and can never quite bring his masterplans to reality without something falling off or exploding. Chug injects creativity and craziness into the experience, along with a slightly deranged laugh. SCRAWL: The �villain� of the piece, Scrawl is secretly frustrated by his inability to use English to create. Scrawl can remove or change the world and its inhabitants, and much of Roddy and friends� time is spend undoing some of Scrawl�s mischief (for example, removing all the colors from the world, or changing Og�s house into a mouse). Deep down, Scrawl just wants to be popular and successful � but if he can�t achieve that, then why should he let anyone else? CLOUD Cloud is the wise all-knowing, all-seeing character. If the characters or learners require an explanation of, for example, a grammar point or phonics rule, Cloud can provide the answer. In the fantasy world, Cloud lives a million miles in the sky and hence is not easily accessible � to reach Cloud the characters (and learners) will likely have to complete a challenging task or problem, or lure him down through a strong musical performance. Cloud will play an important role as a reference figure. Please see attachment for the character animations. Once you have checked the descriptions and the pictures, please audition for as many characters as you like using the lines given below. If you want to add to these lines feel free. Provide your rates with the audition. Speech needs to be clear and easily understood (though not unnaturally slow). If you are using a character voice please make sure the words are still clear. You will need to have your own studio equipment, and the sound quality will need to be professional. Please do not add any effects to your recordings, they need to be clean. You will be required to upload your sound files in WAV format to an ftp site. Good Luck! and many thanks in advance for your time.
