Financial Reporting Manager
Our Client, a World-Leading Media/Broadcasting/Publications firm in New York City, is seeking a Financial Reporting Manager for an immediate contract-to-hire opportunity. The Reporting Manager will report to the Sr. VP of Finance and is responsible for external and internal financial reporting. This position provides key financial support and analysis to the company’s senior executives. The ideal candidate will have both a financial accounting and computer systems background. Ideal candidates will posses a solid IT background with special expertise in Cognos, Hyperion, and or QlikTech programming who also has a good understanding of financial accounting implications and controls over financial reporting. The ideal candidate should currently be employed in a financial reporting role, preferably at an SEC registrant, or one of the Big 4 accounting firms' TSRS departments Role will work directly with the financial operations group to provide feedback and ad-hoc reporting as needed. This role will supervise two analysts. The role requires sharp analytical skills, proficiency with Hyperion Reports, Hyperion Essbase, and Hyperion Planning. Excel and excellent communication skills are also required. Must be detail oriented a self-starter, accept responsibility, a team player, and have great work ethic. 5 – 10 yrs experience with Cognos, Hyperion, and / or QlikTech is a requirement for this position. Manager of Financial Reporting Duties & Responsibilities Serve as Primary technical and business process resource responsible for financial reporting projects Serving as the lead for Financial report creation Lead the report writing team. Insure standardization of data Assist in identifying areas for process improvement and establishing effective and efficient business practices. Create and maintain consistent and thorough documentation of all processes and procedures for supported applications. Primary interface with Corporate Service Center which provides technical support for the Hyperion operating system, applications, and databases Create a metric reporting data base which will reduce the number or duplicated and irrelevant reports Crate and maintain an online data inquiry process allowing for real time accessible metric dashboards. Perform ad hoc financial analysis and research as assigned by the Sr. VP of Finance. Direct, prioritize, and manage systems and programming resources assigned to report creation. Monitor requests of users of financial information throughout the company to ensure that their needs are being met by the financial reporting system. Assist in the preparation of the monthly financial book prepared for the board of directors and the company's lenders. Assist with special projects and ad-hoc requests. Support the process of identifying, diagnosing and solving existing process and system issues. Skills & Competencies Highly proficient in Excel, Word, Hyperion/Essbase, Cognos, and / or QlickTech Knowledge of external reporting issues Strong presentation, communication, and leadership skills Ability to effectively manage a team Must be able to multitask, prioritize and delegate Excellent analytical skills and systems aptitude College degree in Business or Finance and CPA desired. MBA highly desirable. Minimum of 5 years overall accounting and planning experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
