We are building a web app that for retail shipping clients. The app will consist of 20 modules that will need to work together seamlessly. Module examples are: shipping aggregator (ups, fedex, usps, dhl, various freight carriers), point of sale, calendar, customer database, mailbox receiving and package check in, admin panel with multi-tiered management administration and franchise control levels etc. We are thinking Java is our best back end option using the google tool kit, storage and hosting, but are open to other suggestions. The response time is one of the most critical elements. The site must be fast. The layout an functionality should be modeled after mint.com, having all the modules visible on one page with buttons to minimize and maximize each window. All the technical specs and rough page layouts will be provided. We would like a quote on building each module, one at a time. If we are happy with the work, we will award the next module. We would like a price based on the bulk assignment of all modules though. The necessary programming hours for each module is currently estimated between 300 and 700 based on each module's complexity and ease of integration with the other components. In a perfect world the site will work with all major browsers, but that may not be possible up front. We do have a limited number of peripherals that need to be integrated with local drivers. We would like to have the entire suite of modules finished by the end of 2012 at the latest.
