Title: Database Administrator - SQL Server Location: Beaverton, OR Contract to hire job opportunity Our client has an opening for a SQL Server Database Administrator. The SQL Database Administrator is responsible for providing technical support for the Microsoft SQL database environment including overseeing the development and organization of the databases, assessment and implementation of new technologies. Skills Required: - Minimum 5 years' experience in database development and support in MS SQL Server environments (2005 and 2008). - Ability to write T-SQL code and design (e.g. functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints) - Comprehensive understanding of SQL server tools (e.g. Profiler,DTA, SSMS, SAC, SSCM, PerfMon, DMVs). - Experience in performance tuning, query optimization, performance monitor and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools. - Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU/memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention. - Proficiency with indexes, including, but not limited to, management, checks, configuration and patching. - Strong knowledge of backups, restores, recover models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, clustering, database mirroring and replication. - Functional knowledge of Windows servers, security delegation, SPNs and storage components. - Expert experience in implementing operational automation. - Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; must be able to document processes and procedures clearly and effectively (e.g. runbooks, topology, etc.). - Ability to work well in a team environment, as well as individually. - Ability to work a rotating 24x7 on call support schedule.
