We are one of the largest "user-generated" art sites in the world. We allow artists and photographers to upload high-resolution JPEG images to our website, and then we offer them for sale as prints, greeting cards, etc. With thousands of new uploads arriving each day, we need an automated system which can judge the quality of each JPEG and identify potential defects in the image. Problems that we need to identify: 1. image is overly compressed (i.e. pixelated image) 2. image has been artificially enlarged in Photoshop (pixelated and blurry image) 3. image is not cropped correctly 4. image is grainy 5. image is out-of-focus ... and more. What we're really looking for is a programmer with significant prior experience developing image analysis software. Our website currently handles 20,000+ new uploads per day. Your code will need to be able to analyze one high-resolution image (up to 10,000 pixels x 10,000 pixels) every 5 seconds in order to keep up with our forecasted growth. Our website is built on Linux / Apache / MySQL / PHP. Any programming language is acceptable for this project as long as it will work in the above environment.
