Our client is creating hosted versions both of their existing applications and new market offerings. Many of these applications will be hosted in a cloud environment. This is a hands-on technical development role so the successful applicant will be involved in all aspects of the software development lifecycle including design, development, testing and support. The role is in the Newbury office but will involve working closely with teams in other design centres (notably Austin, Texas, and Linz, Austria), and able to travel to those locations on an occasional basis. Key responsibilities The SaaS Architecture team is responsible for: Defining, and delivering a shared architecture and components for all cloud and SaaS based products to leverage. Working with other parties, both internally and externally as necessary. Assisting in the roll-out of other development teams into SaaS and Cloud based offerings. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the success of the team goals (above), but is expected to contribute most actively to delivering the middle tier functionality of the platform. Requirements: Education to Degree Level or equivalent in Computer Science or similar subject. Previous proven technical experience in commercial software development. Strong technical software skills – analysis, design, debugging, etc. Technical Skills: Strong Java (J2EE) skills Previous proven experience of building Rich Internet Applications (RIA) – web-services, REST, JSON, etc. Major focus of role is server-side architecture and code, but must be comfortable touching all layers of the application from back-end databases and Java SDK middle tier through to the AJAX based web UI. Experience of Javascript expected. Experience of Spring, jQuery, HTML5 advantageous. Experience of building, deploying, and delivering commercial SAAS solutions advantageous. Experience of deploying applications into Cloud architectures (Amazon EC2, Azure or others) highly advantageous.
