We are educational performance analysis specialist looking to expand our current range of products Seeking a web programmer to write a fairly basic web based portal for schools that can be accessed by Pupils, Staff & Parents. We would like it written in Visual Studio 2010 using ASP.NET in VB powered by an MS SQL Server 2008 database. A key factor of this project is security as the finished project will store sensitive data so the successful candidate would need to demonstrate a good understanding of Security and protecting data using different levels of security. The project will be integrated into our current Win Forms application, with the view of eventually replacing the Desktop Application all together. For this reason the code will need to be written in a way that it is easily expanded. Job Description: Initially the features of the system would be quite basic with lots of scope for additional work to be completed by the successful candidate. Our initial specification is for a timetabling style system which Pupil are linked to classes, which in turn are linked to teachers and the subject taught. Teachers can then log in and see which classes they teach and which pupils are in them. Parents can login and see only their own children and the classes they are in and who teaches them. Pupils can also login and see them classes and who teaches them. We would then like each teacher to be able to create a "Mark book" for each class to enter values against each pupil. Pupils and parents should also be able to see this data but ONLY for them selves. There would also be a higher level of teacher who could see all classes & pupils for subjects they are given "Permission" over. We would work with the successful applicant to get a much clearer specification and could possibly design the database structure to give a clearer picture.
