1 Job Description : Community Development Worker (Warwick West ) Fixed Term Contract to March 31 st 2015 Salary: £18,000 pa pro rata 30 hours per week Job Purpose To develop services and activities for the community in the Warwick West area with a primary focus on the Packmores Estate. T o support the whole Warwick West community includin g older adults, young people, families , the unemployed, NEETs young people (Not in Education, Employment or Training) and socially isolated people in engaging with services and activities through identifying gaps in provision and community needs, delivering targeted activities and working closely in partnership with local statutory and voluntary groups. This project is funded through a contract with Warwick District Council to provide community development in the Warwick West ward (with specific emphasis on the Packmores estate) Community Development Worker (Warwick West) job role: U ndertak ing a community audit on the Packmores estate in Warwick West and surrounding areas, which will identify existing provision of services and activities available to the residents of Warwick West. Undertaking a community needs analysis on the Packmores estate to identify gaps in service provision in the area. 3. Report writing Organising community events to publicise services and activities Recruitment of volunteer community activists Recruitment of young people to become active members of Warwick Youth Forum, based at the Gap Development of community based activities – as identified in community needs analysis and including access to specialist advice/information provision Development of volunteer mentors Recruit participants for and support for a community leadership course Fundraising for specific projects and activities Networking and development of good partnerships with a variety of other local organisations, from all sectors 11. Development and implementation of an exit strategy for the project 12. Working hours: The total working hours for the post is 30 hours worked on a flexible working basis normally over weekday daytimes and evenings plus weekend work as necessary. Salary: £18,000 pa pro rata 30 hours per week Annual leave: Annual leave will be 20 days per annum plus statutory holidays. Training: The GAP actively encourages all staff to develop themselves through professional training and will develop an action plan for training needs on an individual and job role basis.
