This position is a strategic hire for our client in Chicago, Illinois. The manager is currently managing too many professionals. This professional will be a Product/Project Manager and will eventually take 6-7 software engineers (Java Developers) under their wing from an administrative leadership perspective (career development, resource allocation, etc.). The product these professionals will manage is a niche tool in its third architectural life cycle, developed proprietarily by the client for their external customers. This is a data collection tool that provides their customers with a unique experience while working through a study. This person will need to have experience working through demos, both with internal and external clients. They will need to accurately forecast the products capabilities and build roadmaps from the functionality of the tool. This will paint the picture for projects the client engages. As with most industries, the next phase of this tool is geared to the capabilities present within the mobile technology so customers are able to access information through handheld devices. This person will be responsible for the team to meet deliverables in a traditional project management front. Generally, these would be two different roles, but this person will be more of a SME for the tool. They will cross functionally manage resources and the technologies include: Java, SQL, and also work with the infrastructure teams. They will need to know how to prioritize the teams' efforts to meet milestones of given projects. This person will be tasked with growing the careers of 6-7 software engineers. This is focused on career development. This is a strongly desired attribute, but is not necessarily required. This professional will need to be able to have hands on production contribution immediately in Java/J2EE/JSP/Struts.
