The client is seeking a WIN7 DESKTOP ENGINEER for Win7 project account to begin immediately and end on June 29th (possibility of extension as needed). We consider the position to have a flexible location: two weeks on site in Philadelphia office, one week WAH (Home Based - Virtual Office). RESPONSIBILITIES AND POSITION DESCRIPTION: As a Desktop Engineer you will be involved with the deployment and troubleshooting of Windows XP to Windows 7 migration, including acting as the North American regional technical lead for escalation of migration related issues. This includes problem research and discovery, contacting engineers and architects as required for information or to escalate issues that require their engineering input or infrastructure intervention, build regression testing against core apps and migration utilities, deployment (SCCM), third-level production support of regional daily/nightly build and data migration, and providing full documentation of process improvements and work level instructions for common issues and workarounds. Specific tasks will include: o Performs special assignments and provides technical advice in area of expertise. o Provide technical leadership and planning for future requirements o Grow develop and lead staff in fast moving, high pressure environment, client facing, matrixed environment o Manage problem escalation and communication with Sr. Mgmt team, and, where appropriate, customers o Other duties as required EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS: o BS in Engineering or Computer Science essential o MCSE or MCITP Certification REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: o 10+ years in the IT industry with experience including: 5 or more years providing consulting / professional services'. Extensive vendor liaison. All round risk assessment in relation to SOE/ Desktop environments. Previous demonstrable SOE design experience. o Experience or pre-certification training for Windows 7, Configuring, certification (Exam 70-680). o Deep technical experience with Windows XP Problem diagnosis focus Underlying architecture for User Account Control and Session 0 Understand Group Policy Objects(GPO) and how they interact with the OS Understand the complexities of the system registry and can identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues caused by the registry. Active Directory and Group Policy Systems management solutions including Microsoft Systems Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) Understand "Resource Monitor" metrics and can identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to resource metrics. o Be skilled with the Microsoft Office suite of products o Have strong Scripting abilities with languages including Visual Basic and Powershell o Experience using Virtual server and desktop (VDI) solutions, including VMware and Microsoft's offerings o Understand and have used App Locker, App Compatibility. BitLocker, VDI, App-V, Med-V, USMT, ACLs and related technologies & skills o Understand McAfee and Checkpoint end-point security solutions o Be familiar with Windows Server 2003 and 2008 , Office 2003, 2007, 2010 o Able to communicate clearly with peers as well as management. o Self-driven and resourceful to achieve goals independently as well as work well in groups. o Flexibility to adjust to changing requirements, schedules and priorities. o Excellent customer facing skills with the ability to socialize ideas, make recommendations and gather team consensus to move forward. o Excellent communication, writing, meeting facilitation and presentation skills including Executive level presentation skills o Ability and flexibility to have extensive travel (greater than 50%) to support our clients on site. DESIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: o MS in Computer Science/Application will be a plus. o Advanced vendor Certifications o Experience within Financial services industry o Leadership Qualities.
