We are looking for a Cognos developer to implement new ETL jobs using the COTS tool, populate the new data mart, design Power Play cubes, and construct dashboards and reports in Cognos. The person in this position will work with business stake owners, other developers and a data warehouse team to take the newly designed data mart through the development lifecycle. Candidates must have experience constructing new dashboards, reports and cubes from scratch in Cognos 10. Experience building ETL jobs using Talend is preferred, but not required. Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must. Strong analytical and problem solving skills as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with little supervision are required. The position requires that they be responsible for analyzing and decomposing user requirements and developing them into reports/dashboards with minimal defects. Responsibilities: Review and analyze the new data mart schema to identify groupings and divisions of ETL jobs; design, develop and implement the ETL jobs using Talend in the lab environment. Support system testing and performance testing of ETL jobs; correct defects and performance issues found during testing. Review initial design of cubes and make recommendations on improvements and implement Power Play cubes in Cognos 10 to support display of dashboards. This includes defining data sources for dimension and fact tables, identifying additional aggregated summary fact tables, building hierarchies, implementing date fields to determine relative time, creating measures to support counts, and setting cube partitions. Design and construct dashboards in Cognos according to requirements using cubes and data mart tables as appropriate, including drill-through capabilities to relational reports. Design and construct new reports in Cognos according to requirements. Design a graphical user interface to allow user to provide parameter inputs for reports. Implement security features such as roles and permissions to allow users to access those reports they are allowed to see. Support system and performance testing of dashboards and reports; address defects and performance issues as necessary. Design data sources to allow end users to construct different types of reports in Cognos, such as audit trail reports, financial reports, and operational reports. Implement security features to ensure that data is accessed according to permission levels/roles. Document Data Mart capabilities, including design documents, as well as, logical and physical diagrams. Required Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience with Cognos Minimum 1 years of experience with Cognos 10 Minimum 1 year of experience building Power Play cubes. Minimum 2 years of experience designing and implementing ETL jobs. Minimum 1 year experience working with Cognos on a Unix operating system. Minimum 1 year of MS Office, MS Access, and MS Project experience
