Our client requires a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) senior consultant (Consultant) to assist with their Information Systems (IS) Project Office in the support of its portfolio of projects and initiatives. Working through the IS Project Office, the Consultant shall be responsible for managing multiple projects. Work load will be 40 hours a week. Roles & Responsibilities: General Oversight and Support for IS Project Office The Consultant shall be required to assist the client’s two full-time project managers at a minimum of fifteen hours per week providing general project management oversight and support to the entire project portfolio. The Consultant shall participate in planning meetings to help prioritize the project portfolio, participate in meetings with four IS section managers to provide status of the project portfolio and either add or remove projects and initiatives, and assist with identifying project dependencies, resource constraints, and overall risk assessment. Manage Projects Under minimal direction, the Consultant shall be responsible for projects, which may include application development or enhancements to the technical infrastructure. The Consultant shall prepare work plans, schedule work assignments, and monitor status of projects with extensive Board and senior executive visibility. The Consultant shall frequently resolve highly complex project issues by creatively utilizing knowledge gained from extensive experience where procedures may not be prescribed or well defined. The Consultant’s project management responsibilities are to: Lead and provide vision, analysis, design, construction, and implementation of business applications. Establish multiple project schedules and timelines, assign project tasks, and monitor completion. Initiate required changes to procedures, designs, schedules, and/or project organization. Recommend software and hardware configurations to meet customers’ requirements and information systems standards. Review all unit and system testing for completeness and accuracy. Coordinate corrections for problems in existing applications. Partner with the Contracts Administration and Materials Management (CAMM) Department to establish and maintain vendor contracts. Proactively manage highly complex contracts and incorporate necessary contractual changes in accordance with project scope and schedule requirements. Coordinate and facilitate problem resolution with software vendors. Work with vendors to understand methods to maintain and support purchased applications. Research similar technologies implemented nationally to incorporate lessons learned. Create strategies to ensure successful collaboration with project teams. Ensure effective communication and group dynamics by coordinating, establishing, and maintaining open communication lines among project team members and users that builds an environment of mutual respect, trust, and intellectual exchange of ideas. Manage project budgets and staffing requirements. Report status of projects to supervisor and project steering committee. Provide reports on team member performance. Develop and review detailed project plans using structured methodologies for all business development or enhancement projects and coordinate and align with multiple initiatives. Consultant Requirements: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in business, computer science, mathematics, or related field, with approximately seven to ten years of professional responsible experience in computer systems analysis for business, accounting, and business intelligence applications, four years of which are managing global “cutting edge” projects with extensive Board and senior executive visibility. Current PMP Certification is required. The Consultant shall conduct his/herself in a professional manner at all times and adhere to the client’s policies on dress and grooming, electronic mail, personal conduct, smoking policy, and internet usage.
