Quality Engineer/Containment Supervisor
Quality Engineer_ Containment Supervisor This position is for a Quality Engineer /Containment Supervisor with a company performing quality assurance at the OEM & Tier 1 Automotive Supplier manufacturing location in the San Antonio area. The person w ill operate independently to advance the interest of the customer onsite at the OEM assembly plant and other Primary and Secondary Customer Locations where interim containment activities could be implemented. Automotive Quality Engineering experience /manufacturing practices desired . Promote issue resolution and corrective action by initiating dialogue with OEM direct labor team members familiar with the program and commodity assembly process. Support Quality Assurance, Industrial and Manufacturing teams with issue definition and identification, measurement, analysis, improvement and control of root cause conditions(s). Manage the end of line containment quality gate activities to improve upon inspection methods, ensure standardized work methods are being performed, documentation of defects are being addressed with corrective action, charting and graphing of data to help drive continu ous improvement of the process. Ensure team training effective, executed and verified using Red rabbit methodology. Complete quality reviews of final line containment quality gates, to drive back corrective action at installation , to prevent escapes for occurring at those key installation points. Perform quality systems and material management audits to control workmanship defect reduction efforts, corrective and preventative action identification, analysis and reporting, inspection of returned suspect units and any special inspections. Support ongoing containment activities, quality gates and issue resolution breakpoints. Draft and maintain containment work instructions; Coordinate and manage all aspects of the interim quality gate; including material flow, efficiency time studies and all other quality performance matrices; Inspect, sort, and rework components to the designated specifications as indicated by the activity Work Instructions, Boundary Samples and/or Visual Aids . Perform final component assessment before suspect material is released to client and inventory. Submit daily containment activity results to customer representative and weekly activity summaries to the Regional Manager from Primary and Secondary Customer locations . Manage containment team’s instruction, growth and development activities. Qualifications & Requirements : · Physically able to lift containers and components that weigh up to forty pounds · Possess a valid Driver’s License · Access to reliable Transportation · Achieve a minimum score of 85% on a Basic Aptitude Test · Demonstrate proficient knowledge of reading, writing and speaking the English Language. · Proficient knowledge of Computer Skills and Microsoft Office Software (MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook). · Minimum two years of Quality Engineer or similar professional quality disciplines experience within the automotive industry. · Minimum two years of direct customer relations or customer service experience. · Minimum one to three years Supervisory experience in an ISO 9001:2000 and QS9000 environment preferred. · Provide documentation of U.S or Canadian Citizenship for employment consideration within the country where services will be performed. · Drug Screen - Test Negative for illegal and banned substances · Consent to Criminal Record Background Check · Signed Confidentiality Waiver · Basic knowledge of Micrometers, Calipers, Height Gauge, Gage Pins, Force Gauge, Go/No-Go Gages and other Measurement and Test Equipment. · Ability to read design drawings and component blueprints. · Basic knowledge of problem solving applications, statistical sampling and inspection performance techniques. · Basic knowledge of First-In/First-Out Inventory Management Principles. · Basic knowledge and experience with principles of Conflict & Crisis Management. · Basic knowledge of Applied Statistical Analysis, Quantitative Managerial Methods, and Six Sigma continuous improvement methodologies. · Minimum of four-year college degree or equivalent professional quality disciplines experience within the automotive industry. · Exceptional reading, writing and verbal communication skills. · Ability to thrive in multiple fast-paced, high-stress manufacturing environments. · Knowledge of ISO9001, QS9000 and TS16419 requirements and the standards’ influence in manufacturing systems. · Basic Knowledge of Control Plan, Warranty Analysis, APQP, PFMEA, DFMEA, DOE, MSA, SPC, PPAP, GD&T and Gage R&R · Proficient knowledge and experience with principles of Conflict & Crisis Management. <![if lt IE 5]> <![endif]>
