Senior Systems Architect
Our client is looking for a Senior Systems Architect who can thrive in a challenging, fast paced and rewarding environment at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Washington, DC. This is a high visibility and influential position leading and guiding C-level decision makers, architects and engineers in the analysis and renewal and or development of an infrastructure strategy. Main Duties: Leads strategy in a technical environment of the IT portfolio of enterprise assets including: legacy systems, servers, networks, databases, COTS, SAN, desktop, laptops etc. Research, analysis assessment, developing conceptual and logical technology architectures, develop technology roadmaps and transition planning for infrastructure systems Performs infrastructure analysis and prepares results, duties may include strategy development, enterprise architecture development, IT project analysis and planning, business and financial case analysis, development of performance goals and measures, risk analysis and mitigation Skills Required: Subject matter expertise in processing and server architecture Broad skills in SAN, backup, application development, network and infrastructure management tools Demonstrated knowledge of Information Technology terminology, methods, principles concepts, theories in system development LifeCycle Enterprise architecture, infrastructure architecture, engineering, security, performance management, risk management, change management and continuous process improvement Identification and resolution of infrastructure problems with in major organization Implementation of improvement opportunities for identified problems, application of Information Technology Infrastructure Library concepts and practices Demonstrated ability to partner and collaborate with diverse groups of owners and stakeholders on project teams across organizational lines Processing and server design, architecture, engineering, administration, virtualization, cloud computing, OS clustering, file system clustering, host based replication on various platforms Strong analytical, decision making skills, excellent verbal communication, and presentation skills Skills Preferred: Candidate should possess more than 10 years professional experience, with expert level knowledge of IT infrastructure Minimum 5 years experience in Government Education: Bachelors degree, Masters preferred ITIL v3 Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States of America without sponsorship.
