Zycron has a great opportunity for a Consulting Oracle DBA. The selected candidate will be working with our client located in Nashville, TN. This is a contract. Job Description: Consulting Oracle Database Administrators are leaders within our Data Management organization, and provide operational support of our existing database environment, development support for the creation of new applications and for the implementation and customization of 3rd-party packages, and guidance and expertise for the continuous improvement of uninterrupted operations. The Consulting DBA will work with other technicians, business analysts, and business owners to understand requirements and identify solutions. The Consulting DBA is expected to possess and utilize significant breadth and depth of experience in the design, development, maintenance, and administration of databases, and will be expected to work with little supervision. Physical database design, construction, & implementation using current database technology 2. Collaborative design & development with programmers and business analysts 3. Problem analysis, diagnosis, and implementation of resolutions 4. Performance monitoring & tuning 5. On-call support for production systems, jobstreams, and processes 6. Database backup (archive) & recovery 7. Business continuity planning 8. Capacity planning, monitoring, and upgrade implementation 9. Software upgrade planning and implementation Education/ Technical Experience: § Requires a Bachelors degree. § Requires more than 7 years total IT experience and more than 5 years with relevant database technology. Hardware/Operating Systems: AIX LINUX Networking: (ex: LAN/WAN, DHCP, VPN, TCP/IP) Thorough understanding of networking w/ respect to database connectivity and troubleshooting of connectivity errors Certifications: Considered a plus Databases: Oracle version 10g and 11g o RAC, ASM, OCFS/2 o RMAN, Datapump, OEM, MOS, o DataGuard and Flash Recovery experience a plus Required Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, including a desire to work within a highly-matrixed, team-oriented environment. Independent operators are not sought and will not be successful in this position. Demonstrated performance monitoring and tuning ability, including an aptitude to lead the diagnosis and resolution of performance problems within a large-scale, complex infrastructure. Expertise in configuration and administration of database security. Expertise in guiding all facets of database administration through the complete application development project life cycle (requirements definition, design, implementation, and operational support).
