Database Administrator Maryland Heights, MO Primary Responsibilities: Provide daily and on-call support of SQL Server database environments with responsibility for proactive monitoring and maintenance, resolution of technical issues, backup and recovery, software product installations, and performance tuning. Required Skills/Knowledge:  A minimum of 5+ years of DBA experience with SQL Server.  Working knowledge of SQL Server 2008 features and management.  Working knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services.  Experience with writing stored procedures in T-SQL.  Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server replication.  Working knowledge of SQL Server running in a Microsoft Windows Server Cluster.  Strong analytical skills for problem resolution, database and SQL performance tuning.  Desire to understand the software applications use of the data and work in conjunction with the developers to produce high quality results.  Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or other relevant degree. Duties: 1. Provide production and development database support for third party and custom applications using SQL Server. 2. Create and maintain SQL Server databases and related security. 3. Create and maintain standards for the database environment. 4. Create and maintain database environment documentation. 5. Install and apply updates to all components of the SQL Server database environment. 6. Assist with application performance improvement through database optimization and tuning. 7. Troubleshoot database related performance and issues. 8. Convert databases from Informix to SQL Server 2008 R2. 9. Work with IT Operations staff in the setup and on-going monitoring of database backups. 10. Provide on-call database support for production and development activities.
