The Scottish Youth Hostels Association (SYHA Hostelling Scotland) is Scotland’s largest network of tourist hostels, with around 60 locations spread across the country. We are currently looking to appoint a Hostel Assistant/ Cleaner based at our Glencoe Youth Hostel for the coming season to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our guests. The main responsibilities of this position include the cleaning of accommodation, public toilets and outside areas of the hostel as well as the daily stock taking and distribution and collection of linen throughout the hostel. Suitable candidate will have a commitment to high standards of customer service, general level of fitness and previous housekeeping experience. It is not essential but applications will be considered favourably from candidates, who have worked in the hospitality industry, have an understanding of more than one language and knowledge of the local and surrounding area. The post holder will be able to work unsupervised and with attention to details. The provision of customer service during busy times can be demanding. Flexibility and adaptability as well as a can-do attitude and the ability to work under pressure will be an important attribute of the candidate.
