Technical Writer

Technical Writer – Abbott Park, IL CARA’s client, located in the far Northern Suburbs, is seeking highly skilled learning & development professionals to fill the following contract opportunities. While not required, demonstrated experience in either a regulatory or pharmaceutical environment is highly desired. Working knowledge of a global audience is a plus. Ability to work on-site most days is client preferred (estimated engagement June – December 2012). Responsibilities Collaborate with customer to define documentation needs and develop documentation according to the customer’s standards. Create new or modify existing technical documents that are complex in nature. Develop user guides, procedure manuals, and process standards. Edit documents and ensure that standards of quality, format and style are met. Maintain and track multiple documents, ensure consistency and standardization. Provide quality control for all documentation; standardize documentation to the customer’s format. Determine appropriate delivery method to achieve desired performance (online documentation, online help, job aids, procedure guides and reference materials). Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology. Qualifications Minimum of 5+ years of technical writing experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong time management skills. Ability to work within client authoring systems, documentation management systems and a collaborative work environment. Ability to interact frequently with multiple Stakeholders in a global organization. Strong consulting skills and experience working with Subject Matter Experts and Stakeholders. Knowledge of Information Mapping. Knowledge of the following or similar applications is also required SharePoint, MS Office, Documentum. Education Degree in Technical Writing, English or a related field.
