Ruby on Rails Developer Type: Contract Basis Daily rate: Negotiable Duration: Initial 3 months with possible extension Pickourteam is a startup company who are seeking to recruit a heavyweight Ruby On Rails developer to work on a contract basis as part of a small team. The role will involve developing a football social network which provides fans with a platform for sharing their opinions and being rewarded for their participation. As it’s an early-stage concept we can’t divulge too much at this stage, but we would be happy to explain the vision to candidates during the interview process. Rest assured it’s an exciting concept and would wet the appetite of any serious developer. As we are looking to take the product to market before the start of the next season, the successful candidate will have experience developing high volume applications and web services for commercial use, and a hunger to work in a high pressured, fast-paced environment. Once onboard, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing the core business logic and web service for powering a Facebook-enabled site and mobile app. The project will also involve integration with other third party services for data retrieval and user authentication. The end result will deliver users a highly social and incentivised experience, and the business with mechanisms to drive user acquisition and revenue from the community. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Assist lead tech in modelling database, business layer and web service. - Write well constructed and documented code for core business logic and web service. - Write test scripts and sanitise code. - Document and train staff in the products and services developed. - Assist with the creative process and execution of ideas. Essential technical skills required: - 4+ years developing enterprise level applications in ROR using an MVC framework. - 2+ years using Unix command. - 2+ years working with XML / JSON. - Experience developing web services. - Experience implementing caching techniques. - Knowledge of Apache. - Working on agile projects. - Experience using SVN or equivalent source code repositories.
