eCommerce Senior Business Analyst
The eCommerce Senior Business Analyst will work as the liaison between the global publishing IT team and assigned business area(s). The role of the Senior BA is to build, demonstrate, and maintain a detailed knowledge of the business functions, processes and controls in place. He or she should maintain a familiarity with current business issues, objectives, and strategies of the assigned area and recognize issues and opportunities to optimally apply technology to enhance existing or build new business capabilities. The candidate will work closely with business users and IT team leads to identify, prioritize, and complete systems projects for the assigned area and help to apply the SDLC in a logical and reasonable manner identifying opportunities for tailoring the process to the specific project needs and obtaining approval for this tailoring with IT management and service providers. He or she must be able to effectively communicate with business stakeholders using business terminology as well as possess a strong technical background to enable comprehensive business-IT alignment. Duties includes coordinating and facilitating requirements gathering sessions, developing appropriate requirements and functional design documentation, use cases as well as assisting in the testing of the functionality of newly developed IT applications. The role requires tact, diplomacy and strong written and verbal communication skills. The individual should also demonstrate critical analytical skills and sound judgment. Requirements: 5-7 years experience with systems development methodologies, definition, systems design and systems testing Demonstrated experience with eCommerce IT projects serving as Business Analyst or related role. 5 years experience in a structured project management environment with a demonstrated appreciation for disciplined project management Exceptional verbal, written and communication skills. Experience and knowledge of relational databases, SQL, Java, .NET, etc. Experience and knowledge of online retail in the publishing industry a plus Strong presentation skills Have the ability to quickly understand the scope of the project and identify key success and risk factors Should be familiar with online shopping and checkout processes. Have a thorough understanding of how back-end and web-based systems interface with each other. Experience with Mercury Quality Center (or similar defect tracking system) is desired. Knowledge of WebSphere a plus Should be able to prioritize multiple tasks effectively. Should have experience working with third party vendors with a deep understanding of systems integration. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Visio, and PowerPoint) and system documentation tools. Enthusiastic team-player as well as a self-starter
