Will take candidates with C# OR Java!! Overview The Developer will serve as the technical expert for our growing team. The right candidate will have a solid work ethic and a desire to learn and be challenged. This person will have the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines, while having fun. This position is responsible for designing and programming complex, multi-tier front and backend applications, as well as providing operational support for existing applications. The position reports directly to the Core Systems Manager and interacts with other business units. The right candidate will have expertise developing applications in several languages. Development experience in Java, C#, and SQL is a plus. Strong communication skills required. Responsibilities • Define, design, and implement complex, multi-tier applications for the enterprise • Design and develop layered applications, including user interface, business functionality, and database access • Develop innovative solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, aggressive implementation schedules, reporting, and adherence to development goals and principles • Gather requirements and estimate engineering efforts • Plan implementation, and rollout system changes • Independently design, code and test major features, as well as work jointly with other team members to deliver complex changes • Perform release management duties on feature rollouts • Troubleshoot and resolve stability/scalability issues in a time-critical environment • Manage the development environment • Support clients of the portfolio 100% Qualifications: • 5 + years of corporate experience in requirements analysis, design, coding and unit testing of scalable, distributed, fault-tolerant applications in Windows Server environments • Expertise required in object-oriented design methodology and application development • Project experience with Microsoft Windows NT/2000/XP and its development environment • Working knowledge of relational databases (prefer Microsoft SQL Server) • Proven background in rapidly delivering results and creative solutions • Strong time-management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple deliverables • Exceptional communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with other developers to optimize or fix code • Guidewire experience preferred • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred • Experience developing using C# or Java strongly preferred • Basic PHP programming experience a plus • Insurance Industry experience a plus
