The Pierhouse Hotel & Seafood Restaurant is situated in the quiet village of Port Appin, Argyll, on the shores of Loch Linnhe midway between Oban and Fort William. Surrounded by the spectacular beauty of the magnificent West Coast of Scotland, the hotel is located in a truly stunning position by the water's edge. We are looking for an experienced Sous Chef who can work closely with our team of Chefs to ensure the restaurant functions efficiently and effectively and can stand in for the Head Chef on his days off. We pride ourselves on the freshness & quality of our seafood and local meats, sourcing virtually all of our produce locally. We strive to offer our guests something different - a personal and relaxed family atmosphere, stunning location and deliciously fresh seafood and game. The Kitchen Porter will play an important role in helping to ensure the chefs are kept supplied with clean dishes, pots and pans and assisting where appropriate with preparation of the food such as langoustines, mussels, oysters, vegetables etc to an exceptionally high standard of both quality and presentation. The successful candidate will have previous experience within quality hotels and restaurants, be an existing Kitchen Porter and someone who has the desire, motivation and ambition to learn and increase their knowledge and experience. We require someone who is reliable, efficient, trustworthy and very hard working. Above all we require someone with the necessary level of experience to work knowledgeably and confidently in our rosetted restaurant kitchen to provide a first class service from Day One. You will need to have the ability and maturity with an enthusiastic attitude to be able to cope. Crucially, you must be a team player and be the type of person prepared to help the team maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen to a very high standard even at the end of a busy shift. You will also preferably be current in all health & safety requirements and be a fluent English speaker. Personal presentation and the highest of standards both in and out of the kitchen are crucial.If you are looking for the bright lights then you need to think again.
