Creation of 3 Widgets for Genesis theme in Wordpress
I need help with setting up a new site using the Genesis framework on Wordpress. We have no content ready to publish just yet - we're just getting started. However, we have screened alot of sites to see which look best matches our needs and feel this one comes closest to meeting our needs: /parenting-videos/homework_study_skills-grades . The main work items I need are a set of 3 different widgets that will I want to use to set up a basic homepage for this site. Advice on a particular child theme to use within Genesis would be a nice bonus. Here's the worklist for this project. 1. I need a Gensis-compatible Wordpress widget for the top section of the site (as with the mom's homeroom site in the URL above) - the one with the video window on the left and a scrolling vertical menu on the right. I don't need the small horizontal grade level browse element. I like the font changes for main (bold, larger) and subtopics(not bold and smaller). I also like the fact that the submenus only come up when the main topic is hit. Allowing the video on the left to be selected based on the menu item on the right is desired. Then, in a tweak, I'd like an option- maybe a "Go to Page" button (where the mom's homeroom site has the Browse by Grade index) - for the user to go to another page dealing with that topic. 2. Next down on the page (as in the mom's homeroom site) is the next Genesis-compatible Wordpress widget I need. It's a horizontally scrolled set of boxes with a picture and a caption. In their case, it selects a video. In my case, I want the user to be able to click anywhere in the box to go to a page associated with that box. I'd like to be able to put from between 3-5 boxes in view between the scroll bars as a configuration option. Then, I'd like to the option to have an unlimited number of boxes overall that are set up as widget configuration options. 3. Next down is the next Genesis-compatible Wordpress widget I need. I'd like the ability to put either a picture and text, a video (thumbnail) and text, or just text. In the case of the video, clicking a Watch Now button at the bottom of the box causes the video to play in the first widget (item 2 on this list). In the other two cases, I want a Read More button that goes to another page in the site. I'd like to be able to put from 3-5 widgets horizontally in this section of the page - a configuration option. 4. Bonus item - I want to make this run on Genesis framework. So I'd like a suggestion for an appropriate child theme to build on and then create just a placeholder page with a white background and dummy logo. If the contractor of this job prefers not to recommend one, I suggest using either the Prose or Autobahn child themes as a base.
