Business Data Analyst (S-Oregon)
Seeking a Business Data Analyst to provide production support and facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) process for various analytical models and applications. This analyst will perform tasks to apply and maintain the quality standards and requirements for analytical models. S/he will investigate production issues, support UAT process by writing, executing and documenting test cases, inputting defects as well as conditioning the environment. Ability to understand the mortgage servicing data, architecture and the code is a core requirement in order to properly perform these functions. Essential Functions: Being able to understand complex analytic models and applications. Develop strong knowledge of mortgage servicing practices. Perform continuous research on the performance of the analytical models and come up with ideas to improve them. Design set of reports and processes to verify and validate the analytical models/applications. Provide production support for various analytical applications and models. Troubleshoot and find root cause of issues found. Perform system analysis and functional decomposition of analytics applications to derive user acceptance test plans. Develop functional test procedures based on requirement and technical specifications. Execute test cases/procedures and accurately and concisely report both progress and defect status, including gathering and reporting on project quality metrics. Enter issues, maintain issues, and manage the defect tracking system. Pro-actively work with team members in problem analysis, reproduction, and resolution. Maintain a close and strong working relationship with the analytics, the SQA,RQA, the Servicing and Technology teams. Understand the use of Company systems from a user perspective. Perform ad-hoc testing as needed. General Skills & Abilities: Strong data analysis, quantitative, analytical skills are preferred. Strong problem solving skills are required Programming skills are required. Excellent attention to details and demonstrated ability in delivering successful results under time constraint. Statistical background (familiarity with the concepts and experience with tools such as SPSS, SAS) is preferred. Investigative personality, holistic view and business mind-set is required. Experience with residential mortgage data and mortgage servicing is preferred. Requirement engineering and technical writing skills are preferred. Process analysis and design skills with a technical background are preferred. Experience in T-SQL, familiarity with relational database concepts are preferred. Experience with SQL Server (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS) is preferred. Ability to be flexible and adapt to change. Comfortable in a fast-paced environment. Experience in using configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, debugging tools, and testing tools is preferred. Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers, peers, and management through written and verbal communication. Ability to communicate with customers, internal departments, and other outside parties in a professional manner. Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems in a tactful manner. Minimum Qualifications: BS in analytics, engineering, computer science, quantitative finance, applied math or similar technical degree. MS/MBA Degree preferred. Excellent oral, presentation and written communication skills. Exceptional analytical skills. Some programming skills.
