We have an immediate need for a Construction Manager for UMTS build projects in the Central VA region. This is a long term contract to hire opportunity needed to assist with 2012/2013 UMTS/LTE build out schedules. This position will act as a team lead for one or more groups in the operation, construction, maintenance, removal and repair of the following: pole lines, aerial/building/buried/submarine cable (coaxial and fiber optic), reconnection work and wire, connecting of coaxial plant, and make ready work on a 24-hour basis. The position responsibilities include (but are not limited to): - Assists employees in the actual hands on work operations - Responsible for administration and personnel functions associated with above activities - This position leads a team of 1-5 technical personnel and is responsible for maintaining commitments for work order due dates - Position responsibilities include technical direction, ensuring safe practices under hazardous conditions and 24 hour accountability for emergency service requirements or catastrophic facility failures - Reviews work orders and schedules order of jobs to meet due dates - Determines which personnel to assign to specific jobs and what tools, vehicles, and materials are needed - Conducts safety hazard checks. Directs work operations. Assigns personnel to a job based on ability and training - Observes performance and provides on - the - job training. Supervises and directs contract help - Identifies location of all utilities - Surveys work location to identify safety requirements and direct setting up of safety devices - Prepares daily reports and summaries relative to time and materials used and recovered - Conducts tool and material inventory audits - Conducts safety meetings on a rotational basis and prepares damage and personal injury reports - Determines power voltage and interfaces with property owners regarding Right of Way issues, location of buried cables, building access, and other aspects of the work being performed - Managing new site build (NSB) by turnkey vendor in the Richmond, Eastern/Western Virginia and West Virginia areas, coordinating activities with construction managers, turnkey vendors, engineering, RF, Operations, compliance managers, permitting and inspections - Coordinate bidding, construction and turnover of complete NSB sites to operations - Construction project manager will project, plan, bid and oversee construction activities for maintenance of existing sites and relocations, maintain accurate documentation on all NSB and construction activities, review and resolve turnkey vendor issues to ensure NSB schedule is maintained, and review and approve construction drawings - Will also be expected to work with AT&T to recognize and help resolve issues and obstacles to meet all project objectives Interested candidates please respond with your resume ASAP for immediate consideration Join TEKsystems() and get your career on the fast track.
