The role of this position is to monitor overnight progress of an automated trade processing system. This system involves multiple Oracle SQL databases, a custom process dependency tree (which runs on Unix), and a proprietary financial programming language (Slang) which is similar to C/C++. The process tree is monitored via HP Openview. If a problem is detected during the overnight, it must be fixed or paged out to one of the teams that are responsible for the process. This shift will be from 8pm to 4am Monday through Friday.
