Job Title: First Consult Copyeditor Job Purpose: Accurately copyedit medical text, applying style and formatting guidelines specific to First Consult. Transfer and edit editors and reviewers revisions from Word documents to the WPS content management system. Create internal and external links in the text. Work with supervisor to schedule and prioritize work and provide status reports. Meet deadlines to ensure the timely publication of new and updated content. Key responsibilities Copyedit and format First Consult monographs. Transfer corrections and revisions from Word documents to WPS. Create internal and external links to content, images, and other resources. Proof new topics transferred to WPS for accuracy and proper formatting. Check monographs in the staging environment before promoting to the live website. Work with the developmental and production manager to schedule and prioritize work and meet deadlines. Confer with the First Consult medical editors concerning questions related to medical content. Key competencies Concern for accuracy, attention to detail, ability to follow directions and meet deadlines. Ability to edit in a wholly electronic environment. General knowledge and technical skills Good spelling, grammar, communication, and organizational skills. Familiarity with Word, Excel, Outlook, and content management systems preferred. Required education and experience BA in English, journalism, or the life sciences. Three years proven electronic medical copyediting experience, with relevant internship or proofreading experience a plus. Scientific background preferred but not required.
